Is virtual EMDR just as effective if I do it over telehealth?

Yes, research shows virtual EMDR produces comparable outcomes to in-person therapy for most clients. Bilateral stimulation adapts well to telehealth through visual tracking on screen, audio tones, or self-tapping.

Should I do EMDR therapy virtually or in-person?

Virtual works well if you have a private space, reliable internet, and feel comfortable processing emotions at home.

In-person may be better if you have complex trauma, dissociative symptoms, or simply connect better face-to-face.

The most important factors are your personal preference, practical logistics, and your therapist’s recommendation for your specific situation.

Some of our EMDR therapists can switch formats for you if one isn’t working well.

It's time for you to feel better.
